A rainy practice

Last night Soli J. and I decided to head over to dear ole Penrose for a bit of practice before next Thursday's track clinic. Neither of us had been there since the state championships last season.

The sky opened up on the way there, but by the time we got there it was already starting to dry out. The cracks have all definitely expanded! While we waited for the surface to dry up a bit we walked around and weeded between the cracks. Yes, Penrose is both a botanical garden and velodrome! Things dried up and we started getting the bikes ready when it began raining again. We got into the car to wait it out, hoping it would dry as quickly as before. Twenty minutes later the rain had stopped and it was already near dry. Soli believes that the increased cracking works as better drainage. A positive outlook never hurts.
Just as we were about to ride it started sprinkling again but luckily stopped when Emilie arrived to get some practice in on her new bike. We all got to ride for about forty five minutes. I had forgotten just how bumpy Mr. Bumpyface is!

It will be an exciting season and I look forward to the clinic on May 5th!
