I have to admit, when I heard Steven was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks, I got a little nervous. Track night is a big deal for so many people and we all value it so much, so I wanted to make sure everyone got just as good an experience even with our main track resource gone.
Gotta say, we did a damn fine job. When I arrived, a few were already there and ready to get things swept, set up, and started. Russ, Adrienne, and Kacye took up some brooms to sweep while Matt used the blower he brought from home. It might have been the fastest we have ever cleaned ole Bumpy.
The tent got set, snacks were set out (thanks Steph!), and a steady stream of folks began arriving. We had a nice turn out, 29 in all, and were even able to run two separate juniors races!

Holy Crap that was a lot to type out. Seriously, if I ever hear another person complain about seeing results the day after, for any type of race (especially ones using hand scoring and relying on busy people to then post said results) again I will bear my teeth and growl. Referencing every bib number is a pain in the rump! With that being said, if there are any name typos, bib number mistakes, or even discrepancies in scoring, please send me a message and I will do my best to correct any mistakes that have been made.
Seriously a great night of racing everyone! I wish I were as attentive as Steven and could do a play by play of tactical stuff for the night of racing, but I tend to spend my time between races jabbering away and drinking as much water as possible.
We did have a scary moment that was handled very well. During the C unknown distance race, a fella (whose name I do not remember, apologies) dropped his chain. He did a nice job coasting it out while the field passed and then dropped down track and rolled into the infield where he was able to slow and come safely to a stop. Nice work guy!
Between her psych out noise making and strategizing, Cristel Santiago managed to spice up the women's races which is always fun.
At the end of the evening Scott O and I talked a little bit about Penrose's 50th birthday party that we plan to hold towards the end of the season. The few ideas we tossed around are sure to make for a good time! If anyone has suggestions, please post em in the comments here.
Once again, I want to thank our wonderful officials who provide encouragement and help keep up the easy going, friendly track environment. They still manage to keep in professional.
See ya'll next week!
Aw Snap! I was halfway through typing up results for you but you beat me to it. I agree that it's a pain in the tukas. Thanks for doing it though and NICE recap!
