More Results, Now from last week.

These are the results from last week's races.

The season is in full swing, there is racing everywhere. I just got back from Wisconsin and had a blast. Saw a few local riders and many, many more that I’ve met at previous events.

Windy Race Night!

So maybe it wasn't as windy as it could have been but last night it seemed as though coming around turn four you were suddenly riding through sorghum. Okay, an exaggeration but it was especially windy. A superb night of racing nonetheless.
I especially enjoyed the miss and out, and how even our beloved A racers seemed a bit befuddled. For those of us racing, it can be hard to remember how much strategy plays into that particular event, and even when we know it, we sometimes still get stuck. For those on the sidelines, watching the scramble and confusion last night was priceless.

We are still missing Ms. Kate H due to a recent injury and Miss Soli was unable to join in the fun because of her heroic battle with a car.
It seems as though more and more of my cycling friends are encountering injury, assault, and straight up craziness whilst on the bike. I wish everyone safe riding and a fast wheel. Lets try and stay as safe as possible!

Busy, busy, busy!

Just aren't enough hours in the day lately, in fact I could argue that there are not enough days in the week. I'm still enjoying myself though. I've been up at TOAD, Tour of America's Dairyland working for SRAM NRS. I will get results posted in the usual places soon. Hell I'll even post a bit about those races too after things die down a little. I got a couple of good stories to share.

Click here for more about the races I've been at.

Wow!!!

Wow! What a fantastic night of racing.

Although we had about the same number of riders or slightly less, each and everyone came to race. I cannot remember a night when there were more contested sprints needing to be called at the line. I remember calling at least four or five sprints by a little more than the width of a tire or two and I did not help score every race. All of the groups seemed to remian together longer, those that did break up did not give up, there were a lot of lead changes and nobody truly dominated racing tonight.

I know it was a difficult night by how light you all made the cooler, and tops to everyone who grabbed something to wet their whistle; both my beers were still there after the car was packed. You all rock, thanks for coming out and racing. I want to especially thank Aaro for driving so far to officiate for basically gas money and a Snickers bar for reimbursement, for Vicky Wilhite who is becoming one of the best scorers I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, and to everyone who asks to help out or just does. All of you make this worthwhile and enjoyable.

Oh and Yes Molly, we missed you tonight.

Reminds me how much I miss racing

Sorry to miss out..

It seems as though I am increasingly in contention for decent person with the most rotten luck. Yeah, I'll admit I'm a decent person, and sure there are some with far worse luck, but when it keeps me from racing my foul mood takes all.

Feelin sorry I couldn't make it out tonight, longer races are my favorite! I hope everyone had a splendid time and I hope to see ya'll next week!!

<3 molly!

The adorable Dana Henrickson from Show Me St. Louis came out to the track on Monday and aired this lil bit first thing Wednesday on the show:

Here are a few pictures from last weeks races. I'm going to try my hardest to continue to put pictures up, we all know cyclists love seeing pictures of themselves ;)

Proposed Schedule for June 16th

After all of that and because of the reverse order the A’s were too spent for the add-on race of the night. For the six riders on the far rail we split them up and ran a short pursuit of four laps (I think it was four, hell it was just for grins anyway). I believe it was Emilie’s group that took 20 or 30 seconds out of Soli’s group. It was great seeing those with less experience learning how to use the banks better.

For June 16th I have been getting an earful desiring longer races. Well I’m here to make your wishes come true. We will be returning to the typical order instead of the experiment of last week (I just didn’t like it all that well)

Round One

Unknown Distance 7 to 15 Laps all

Women

A’s

B’s

C’s

Round Two

Tempo Races (number of laps may be changed at the line)

Women 11 Laps

A’s 17 Laps

B’s 15 Laps

C’s 13 Laps

Round Three

Points Races (again, number of laps may be changed at the line)

Women 20 Laps

A’s 30 Laps

B’s 20 Laps

C’s 20 Laps

If there’s light and interest

Mystery Make-Up Race

As always I’m receptive to all racers and the kinds of races they prefer. If there is a race you are fond of or just kick butt at and I am not running them then let me know by all means. Thanks again to all who help, to those who help sweep before we race, to those who help set up and especially to those who help me pack up each night. This week I do not have any request for loaner bikes so I might not bring any for once. If you do need one of the demo’s then get in touch with me and I will bring it along. See you on the bumps, swikles

More Results from June 9th

As I previously stated it was a warm one last week. It was Africa Hot! Despite the heat there was another great turnout. The number of women was down slightly but there were more men signed up. Here is the rest of the night’s results, sorry about the two obviously wrong bib numbers and my having to make educated guesses as to the correct riders.

I stole this video from whoever this is. Maybe we should write a really sweet letter to the people at Red Bull and they can hook us up with a nice new velodrome.

-Molly

i love track racing more than anything!

Today I did a road race. Meh. Got me itching for Thursday... everyone remember to represent tomorrow morning for a stint on KSDK!!

I wish our track had less gigantic craters so we could do keirin. Here's a photo of the last women's professional keirin race in Japan (1964). RAD!

Riding in a Wok

Another great turnout at the track tonight. It was hot, it has been so with record breaking temperatures in the area for almost a week. There were 32 competitors again although there were less women this evening. One missing from the banks is poor Kate. Kate broke her collar bone just a little bit. She still seemed to be enjoying her self like the rest of those I noticed just there to spectate.

Molly used my camera to snap a few shots for the blog. I'm posting this one to the right because I like the shot. I'll let her decide which of the rest to post later.

I did work on some of the results tonight, mainly the flying 200 times. Below are the raw times sorted in order. I'll do my best to have the rest of the results posted during the weekend.

Don't forget about KSDK up at the track on Monday morning about 9 am. As I said elsewhere anyone who wants to ride track bikes during that time is welcome. We will try to mimic a race night so bring your best kit and helmet.

One week riders are shivering, the next they’re sweating just standing around between events. Damn the weather, we have a track to race. And what a great night of racing it was. There was an outstanding showing of women racing tonight, many if not all went to the line in a few of the men’s events. This was the first night that I did little of the scoring so there were a few mistakes recording final results. Hopefully I have them all straightened out. The racing went as follows:

Also, Mr. Wilkes is making huge efforts to make track accessible to all who are interested.

What a stellar night for track racing! The weather stayed dry and it was not too windy.

The events ran as follows:

1) unknown distance (between 4 and 11 laps)
2) snowball (8 laps)
3) danish (or win and out)
4) handicap (strong guys v. everyone else)

A few more newcomers showed up and the women's/juniors  field was larger than it has been.

Everyone has been doing a great job out there and the collective penrose upkeep is admirable!

Lets all try and remember to gather our trash and belongings at the end of the night. The track looks nicer that way and hopefully encourages others to keep the area clean. Also, water bottles can be a cyclists best friend, you don't wanna lose your favorite one!!

I still do not have any results from last week to pass along, but, who cares?! We are racing tonight!   It's not too humid and the clouds are lookin alright.

If anyone remembers the penrose stickers that were made x number of years ago, and potentially has one left over, let a lady know!

Good luck is wished to Robert Mayfield who will be racing in both Chicago and Wisconsin this weekend. He has been training his butt off for the upcoming match sprint weekend. Let's all wish him well!
